ISLAND

This is a picture of the area of Nova Scotia featured in Island - consider the following questions:
How does the harshness of the landscape affect the inhabitants of the Island?
Under what circumstances is it possible for the same landscape to be seen as both beautiful and dangerous?
Think of an instance in which two different people might have an opposing response to the same landscape.

  1. Usually the weather is most harsheness of the landscape affect the inhabitants of the island. Inhabitants of the island live dependent on fishing, if it's bad weather, like strom, people can not fishing, once they can not fishing, they have no income and also they have no foods to eat. Sometimes, the bad weather can make damage to crops and houses. Therefore people needs to rebuild or redo it.

  2. Dali's paintting has his own style, but he mix his hometown landscape a lot. He moving to USA he still paintting the same things, Dali's paintting show us his subconsciousness. In my opinion Dali also want to tell us times very important.

  3. It all depends on the personality of the individual. Every single one of us is different and to be quit honest sometimes we are born/live in the country/place where we don't belong (like one of the characters in The Island), or we don't feel comfortable in. However as a human being we are able to adapt to the climates and temperature changes, we also have individual minds which helps us make the decisions, see the same things differently and choose what is right for us.
The Island is not only under the environments influence but also human influence, which is the most beautiful and dangerous one.
Not only the landscape changes, we also change every single day, so one day, when we are in the pretty good mood we might feel wonderful about an (annoying) breeze, and second day we might feel completely down even though its sunny. It all depends on the person, and how that person sees the world.

  4. The harshness of the landscape affect the inhabitants in such a way that the residents are very down to earth and as they live on fishing and mining which cannot be done without the natural surroundings, they apperciate and even worship the nature and weather provided by the island. The danger is what makes the weather more beautiful. Like a rose with thorns.

  5. When I first look at the picture, it looked beautiful. Beach and rocks. But when i look at it closely, i felt dangerous. Imagine, there will be a terrible storm like tsunami. Water will take everything from you. In serious situation, you might be dead. I watched the movie which threat about tsunmi, it looked terrible. You lost people who you love and you will lost your home. So this picture looks dangerous.

  6. I like this picture, it is refreshing for me. I will describe this picture as all the things beautiful and wonderful on earth but still the most dangerous.
In my opinion the harshness here is that this pretty landscape cant be reached too much by the inhabitants or when they go there they should be very careful and delicate; those who cant be careful dont go that far, they just stay at a safe place to admire from far.
