Art after disaster

This is a painting of the aftermath of the Black Saturday fires. These fires devastated people's homes and the surrounding areas. How might residents of these areas have been affected? Why do we feel the need to recreate images of disaster through art, as this painter has done?

  1. it's hard to make a descision to leave a place where i've lived in for a long time. However,i'd like to change places for refreshing myself sometimes.there are many reasons that people leave places whre they were living in.As international students,we come to australia for better educations.however, most of international students get homesicks in short term after they came to austrilia.(so did i!!!)as the time goes by,people will get use to their new enviroment.i think we have to learn how to survive in a new place.people may still miss their hometowns however they will think different as they back to their hometown....

  2. To Andy's comment:
I think Andy is talking about two things here. One is what people's feeling and thought after they come to a strange place. And the second is once people get use to this new environment, they will have very different feeling and thought with their hometown, and I agree with his comment. However I have a question to this comment that is Andy said “as the time goes by, people will get use to their new environment”, as a international students, I can feel that is very hard to find ways to get use to the new enviroment, then I want to know how people cope with these different environments? Are they changed the environment or changed themselves or something else to get use to this new environment.
    Thanks

  3. Now it's popular for middle school students to study aboad. More and more parents are trying their best to send their children to study abroad. of course, there are many abvantages to study in a foreign language rapidly, masteadvanced science and technology in other countried and het to know thr cultures which are different from these of their own country.
however, attending a foreign school has its disadvantages as well. most middle school students are too young t otake good care of themselves. when they are in foreign country, they wil feel lonely and miss their home country very much. Besides, studyig sbroad will cost a lot of money, which increase the parents's load. in my opinion, we should study hard no matter where we are. Of course, if you are provided the chance to study abroad, you should cherish it and study hard in the foreign country.

  5. I am not an artistic person but I can feel the sense of hope in the painting. Even though there still are ashes and dusts in the once "forest", the newly growing green grass gives the viewrs a sense of hope and courage. By drawing those plants which have survived that extreme condition, the wirter maybe wants to imply that we can still re build our living conditions just like those little resistant plnats did.

  7. I can't imagine I have to live the place where i used live for a long time because of disaster. Before you move to new place, you have to organise first, where you gonna live. But if you have to leave because of disaster, you lost everything. You don't have money and you don't have anything. So it will be a way harder to find the new place. We will never know how residents of the area where had been affected by disaster. For them, it will be like no hope anymore.

  8. What happened on black saturday was sure a terrible thing. But this day will maybe be forgotten for some people but still be forever remembered for others, who was deaply affected by this disaster. Of course that people wants to forget this incident but honestly who can? And also the colours used here too ar not colours of fire, but more like refreshing colours, green colour, just like tha forest was before the bushfire. Iguess here what he wanted to say what that nature is at the same time very weak and unique but also the most powerful element on earth; it can never die. It always grow and develop.
It is the same as when someone decide to trim a bonsai, to make it grow more beautifully and more distinct, of course in this case it was more like in a cruel way, but nature will never die no matter what
